Statement of Ethical Practice

At Kindred, ethical practice isn't a policy. It's a promise. It's how safety is created and trust is built.

It’s what allows counselling to move beyond conversation and toward real change, grounded in care, clarity, and respect.

Our work is guided by the belief that therapy should feel both safe and empowering. We honour your story, protect your privacy, and uphold the professional standards that ensure counselling is a space you can rely on.

Kindred practitioners follow the PACFA and Australian Counselling Association (ACA) Codes of Ethics and Practice, which define how counsellors act in the best interests of their clients. In practice, this means:

  • Confidentiality and safety — your story is protected, always.

  • Boundaries and respect — the relationship stays professional, consistent, and transparent.

  • Competence and reflection — we work within our scope, engage in supervision, and continue to learn.

  • Integrity and care — decisions are made with honesty and fairness, supporting your wellbeing above all else.

Kindred is also committed to the National Child Safe Principles, ensuring that all children and young people experience counselling environments that are physically, emotionally, and culturally safe. This includes clear consent processes, collaboration with parents or carers, and adherence to all mandatory reporting requirements under Victorian law.

Ethical practice at Kindred isn’t just a standard, it’s an expression of our values: warmth, respect, courage, and connection. It’s how we earn trust, hold boundaries, and ensure that every session supports your safety, autonomy, and growth.
